I’m a compassionate, skilled gestalt psychotherapist and relational supervisor based in two welcoming practice locations in central and south London as well as some online and hybrid work.
As a therapist, I always start from the uniqueness of your experiences and will meet you with respect, hopefulness, kindness and commitment. I know we can sometimes feel ashamed of what it is we’re struggling with and feel we should be able to cope on our own. But my experience is that a trusting, supportive therapeutic relationship can create opportunities for growth and offer new, wider perspectives. It’s often a relief to talk, even about things you find painful and challenging.
No two clients are the same but some broad themes that I have a particular affinity with and work with frequently are:
• Grief and loss
• Struggles with anxiety
• Feelings of inadequacy, shame, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, self-hatred
• Significant life transitions
• Early relational trauma, abuse and neglect
I have considerable experience working with a diverse range of clients. I strive towards an anti-oppressive practice and I seek to recognise how much our contexts shape so many of the painful, unjust and challenging experiences that cause us distress. I’m really interested in intersectional feminist therapy ideas and how they can help us understand difficulties people of all genders face under patriarchy.
I trained at the Gestalt Centre London as a psychotherapist and then as a supervisor with Relational Change. I now work entirely in private practice. Previously I was a senior counsellor for several years in a large London hospice. Prior to that, I set up and ran a peer-support project for Cruse Bereavement Care for people bereaved as a result of drugs or alcohol. I enjoyed a first career as a communications professional in the public and voluntary sector.
Alongside my therapy practice, I run staff reflection groups for a progressive funeral director and am a trustee of the charity Rights of Women, the leading legal advice charity for women and girls facing all forms of violence. I belong to two writers’ groups of gestalt therapists and am an associate member of the New York Institute of Gestalt Therapy.
I’m passionate about how literature and creative writing can support our exploration and understanding of ourselves, others and the world at large. I’m creating a therapeutic fiction reading group for women and welcome enquiries.
I’m an avid reader and writer, a keen walker, a yoga fan, and music-lover.
